Clandon Wood Receives GGFS Bronze Award

We are delighted to recognise Clandon Wood with the GGFS Trusted Burial Ground Bronze Award for its commitment to providing a sustainable and professionally managed resting place.

Set within 31 acres of wildflower meadows, lakes, wetlands and young woodland, Clandon Wood is far more than a traditional cemetery. As both a natural burial ground and nature reserve, it offers a peaceful environment where people of all faiths, beliefs and backgrounds can remember their loved ones in tranquil surroundings.

This award reflects the work of Simon Ferrar and his team, whose practical approach to sustainability has helped establish Clandon Wood as a strong example of environmentally responsible cemetery management. Simon also provided valuable input during the development of the GGFS Sustainability Audit for Cemeteries and Burial Grounds, helping to shape an assessment framework that is both relevant and practical for the sector.

The Bronze Award marks an important milestone, and we are pleased to continue supporting Simon and his team as they progress through the GGFS assessment framework and further develop their approach to sustainable burial ground management.

Congratulations to everyone at Clandon Wood on this well-deserved recognition.
