We are delighted to announce that Lea Fields Crematorium is the first in the UK to gain the coveted Trusted Crematorium Gold Award.

Lea Fields Crematorium officially opened January 2020 and aims to meet local needs sympathetically. The design of the site and materials used have been chosen to compliment the rural nature of the area and to make the best use of the natural boundaries.

The crematorium and gardens are situated on the hillside benefitting from beautiful views of the woodland and distant vistas across Nottinghamshire. The gardens of remembrance are filled with young trees and wild flower meadows creating calm spaces in which to reflect, offering views over the landscape and river valley.

Supported by West Lindsey District Council, who have resolved to make the activities of the authority net zero carbon by 2050, crematorium manager Deborah Balsdon and her team have been able to evidence an outstanding commitment to sustainability.

Holding the Trusted Crematorium Standard enables funeral directors and families to recognise Lea Fields Crematorium as a center committed to environmental excellence and choose it for their services.

Crematorium Manager Deborah Balsdon said ‘We are so delighted to have engaged with GGFS, amazing to be independently assessed and more importantly given guidance on how we could be even better!’.
