In September 2024, at the ICCM Learning Conference, President Andy Bond MICCM(Dip) presented Hidde Verberne from Orthometals with the GGFS Bronze Award.
We are delighted, only six months later, to announce Orthometals has now achieved the prestigious Trusted Supplier Platinum Award, the highest level of recognition in the GGFS Scheme.

Orthometals was founded in 1997 and provided metal recycling to crematoria in Holland through the Dutch Cremation Federation. In 2003, working, with the ICCM, Orthometals introduced the metal recycling scheme in the UK. Until then, it was the normal practice for crematoria to bury metals resulting from cremation in the grounds, which was time-consuming, damaging to the environment, and a waste of natural resources.

Metal recycling following cremation is now the norm throughout the UK, and Orthometals have taken their process of ‘Crecycling’ to the United States and other countries to enable valuable resources to be preserved whilst supporting circularity and creating a monetary value that flows back into society.
