Testimonials

Hillier Funeral Service

What an achievement, and one we couldn’t wait to shout about!

We are incredibly proud to announce that our head office at Kingshill House has officially been awarded Platinum by the Greener Globe Funeral Standard.

Our General Manager Rebecca was honoured to be presented with this award from Carolyn and Brendon representing Greener Globe Funeral Standard.

This is the highest level of accreditation available, and only a small number of funeral directors across the entire UK hold this prestigious status.

This moment is a huge milestone for us. To achieve Platinum, we underwent a rigorous and extensive audit focused on environmental responsibility, and we are delighted to have set the standard in sustainable practice within our industry.

Providing the very best for our families has always been at the heart of what we do, and this recognition reflects our commitment to provide exceptional care.

CDS

Becky said ‘I am grateful to have been part of the initiative and proud to be part of The CDS Group, a sustainable and socio-environmentally conscious company. We were delighted to receive our Award at the CBCE Conference in June 2025. Our Graduate Planner, Jessica Cheal, worked diligently on our audit details, and Carolyn was on hand throughout the process to provide advice and support. Having received an audit score of 84.2%, we are committed to working through the Improvement Plan to increase this scoring. We are very proud to be doing what we can to be a more sustainable company in our sector.’.

Ian Hazel Funerals

Here at lan Hazel Funerals, we are very pleased to announce that having been a member of the Greener Globe Funeral Standards May 2024, initially as a Bronze member, we have now been upgraded to the highest level being Platinum.

We are the first company to achieve this award with the maximum score of 100%. When we built our present Head Office facilities back in 2013, we built in as many environmentally features as possible. This included rainwater harvesting, low energy lighting with motion sensors, underfloor heating, mechanical heating and ventilation recovery system, high levels of insulation and 78 solar panels. This enabled us to get an initial Energy Performance Certificate rating of 23 (A)

lan Hazel has said: “Despite all our environmentally friendly features, reaching Platinum Level was not guaranteed – let alone achieve the 100% score. We have had to look very hard at a lot of our policies and practices and think “outside the box” to ensure we are running the company in the best environmentally way possible. We have now introduced our first all-electric Ambulance, and this is supported by three other hybrid vehicles.  Whilst our main funeral fleet are presently petrol/diesel based, we are looking to the future when they can become all electric, as suitable vehicle become available.

This scheme has made us think about many things we used to take for granted. We now ensure engines are not left idling when stationery, clients are made aware of all the Eco-Friendly options that can be used, from coffins to burial grounds. Room thermostats are turned down to a more economical level.  We are more conscious about recycling items, and our impact upon the local community.  We have even ensured that our preferred suppliers including florists have an environmental policy that fits in with our aims.  We are now more careful when choosing things like cleaning material, to ensure they have less impact upon the environment.”

Yuli Somme – Bellacouche

It’s taken a lot of hard work and thinking to achieve the Platinum Award for my work. Thank you to Carolyn Day of the Greener Globe Funeral Standard for her help, encouragement and wonderful comments along the way. This organisation is new in the funeral sector where there has previously been a certain dragging of feet in environmental standards but this award adheres to the same evidenced based approach as the European ISO standard and i’m proud to be part of.

A Natural Undertaking

Achieving the award is no easy task – we had to find and submit evidence across a whole range of categories laid out by the Greener Globe Funeral Standards.

So we were delighted when Brendan and Carolyn Day came to present us with our gorgeous slate award recently.
